Workshop: Decision-Making for Recommendations and Communication Based on Totality of Food-Related Research

ILSI North America is pleased to present the workshop:

Decision-Making for Recommendations and Communication Based on the Totality of Food-Related Research

Monday, 15 December 2008
Washington, DC

The Issue
The interpretation of epidemiological studies is both challenging and vital for making science-based dietary recommendations. Epidemiology studies may also inform the designing of appropriate animal studies and human intervention trials to establish cause-effect relationships.

However, it is the balance of integrating the results of these various types of research studies that can best inform public health recommendations. Nowhere are these issues more prominent than in the nutrition and food safety communities.

Purpose of the Workshop
This important workshop is designed to:

  • Update the nutrition and food safety communities about current practices in the field of epidemiology with a focus on interpretation of weak associations or associations of small size
  • Stimulate dialog on how to improve the transparency of approaches and uses of epidemiological data
